Protect voting integrity - deploy best practices ASAP
To: Sen. Allen, Gov. Newsom, Asm. McKinnor

Our democracy faces an unprecedented threat. Federal abuses of power and extremists now target the foundation of legitimate governance: our state elections. Without immediate action, we risk undermining what John Locke called "the consent of the governed," the bedrock principle that separates democracy from tyranny. The stakes are clear: When election systems lack public trust, government authority becomes illegitimate. History shows that governments without free and fair elections breed instability, civil unrest, and an uprising of the masses. We cannot allow federal manipulation or extremist interference to compromise our state's sovereignty and stability. Three proven resources provide the roadmap for bulletproof election security: - The Brennan Center's research offers concrete policy frameworks for protecting voter access while ensuring integrity. - The Election Excellence Alliance delivers practical implementation tools used successfully across multiple states. - MIT's Voting Technology Project provides technical standards that have transformed election security nationwide. These aren't theoretical recommendations. They're battle-tested solutions. Immediate implementation is essential. Every day of delay invites more federal interference and extremist challenges. Other states are already adopting these measures. We must act before the 2026 midterms, not after damage occurs. When citizens lose faith in elections, they withdraw consent. When they withdraw consent, government loses legitimacy. When government loses legitimacy, everyone’s peace is put at risk, no matter their connections, party, or net worth. I urge immediate action on the resources below, to implement these critical reforms. Your leadership determines our state's future, and your political career. By implementing these evidence-based reforms now, you ensure our government remains of the people, by the people, and for the people.
