In fact, it has been a successful aspect of Utah elections for years, demonstrating its effectiveness and reliability across political lines. This long-standing practice in our state is proof that mail-in voting can be implemented safely and efficiently, enhancing voter participation without compromising electoral integrity. The unconstitutionality of this proposed ban on mail-in ballots is clear. Sophia Lin Lakin, director of the ACLU Voting Rights Project, has rightly called this a "blatant overreach" that infringes on states' constitutional authority to manage their own elections. This is not a partisan issue – it's about protecting the very foundation of our democracy. As my representative, I demand that you take immediate and forceful action to oppose this anti-American proposal. Issue a strong public statement condemning this executive order and call it what it is – an un-American attack on our voting rights. Introduce or co-sponsor emergency legislation to protect and expand mail-in voting options nationwide. Call for congressional hearings to investigate the White House's attempts to undermine our electoral system. The time for measured responses has passed. We need bold, decisive action to protect our democracy from this unprecedented threat. I expect you to stand up to President Trump and defend the constitutional rights of your constituents, including our right to vote by mail as we have done in Utah for years.
