I rely on the ACA for my insurance. I recently had my colon removed and have a second surgery coming up. Next year, my premium will shoot up 143%. I’m already struggling. If I can’t afford insurance, I can’t afford to live.
Thousands of Nebraskans count on Marketplace coverage. In Nebraska, over 115,000 people enrolled in the Marketplace in 2024—and nearly 90% of them use premium tax credits to make it affordable. These credits keep care within reach. If the protections expire or get weakened, costs will soar and coverage will disappear for people like me.
I’m asking you to:
1. Maintain and strengthen premium tax credits.
2. Keep the affordability cap in law (8.5% of income) so I can continue to sign up and stay covered.
3. Reject any policies that push more costs onto enrollees already in life-saving treatment.
Please make sure the ACA isn’t just an option—it’s a guarantee.
