I am writing to demand Congress open a formal impeachment inquiry into Attorney General Pam Bondi. At the behest of this Republican administration, Bondi is actively covering up investigations into Jeffery Epstein’s child-sex-trafficking operations. She has seen testimony, photos and videos of rich, powerful men raping minors, and chose to help cover that up. Her belligerence in her House of Representatives hearing Wednesday only underscored that. At that hearing she also lied under oath about the Epstein files, and refused to directly answer legitimate oversight questions from members of Congress. Refusing to provide clear answers in that setting undermines transparency, weakens congressional oversight, and erodes public trust in the Department of Justice. The fact she is doing this to protect rich pedophiles makes that even worse. If the Attorney General is avoiding scrutiny while using the power of the Department of Justice in a partisan manner, that raises profound constitutional concerns. Congress has both the authority and the duty to investigate credible evidence of misconduct, abuse of power, or failure to faithfully execute the law. No official is above accountability. My wife and I urge you to support a formal impeachment inquiry and ensure the Department of Justice remains independent, transparent, and accountable to the American people.
