Reject anti-vaccine conspiracy theorist for Health Secretary
To: Sen. Rounds, Sen. Thune
From: A constituent in Vermillion, SD
January 31
I am deeply concerned about the potential confirmation of Robert F. Kennedy Jr. as Health Secretary given his history of promoting conspiracy theories and pseudoscience regarding not only vaccines but also important medications. As a healthcare professional, I have witnessed firsthand the immense value of widespread vaccination and proven medications in protecting public health and preventing the resurgence of deadly diseases. Mr. Kennedy's well-documented opposition to vaccines and peddling of misinformation about essential medications based on unfounded claims is extremely dangerous and could severely undermine faith in these life-saving medical interventions. His confirmation would put the health and safety of all South Dakotans at risk by emboldening unscientific movements and disseminating misinformation. I urge you to reject this nomination and instead support a qualified candidate who will prioritize proven science and uphold the integrity of public health policies and programs. The consequences of having a proponent of pseudoscientific theories lead federal health efforts could be disastrous.
