I am demanding an immediate, independent, and public investigation into the death of Renee Good today following actions taken by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). This death cannot be dismissed, minimized, or buried behind bureaucratic language. When a person dies as a direct result of actions taken by a federal agency, the responsibility does not disappear—it rises to the highest levels of government. What happened to Renee Good is the consequence of an agency that has grown reckless, unaccountable, and dangerously untethered from oversight. ICE is out of control. This is not an isolated incident. ICE has repeatedly demonstrated a pattern of excessive force, medical neglect, procedural violations, and indifference to human life. When those patterns end in death, Congress has a duty—not a choice—to intervene. This investigation must include: • The exact actions taken by ICE agents leading up to Renee Good’s death • Whether force, medical negligence, or policy violations occurred • Who authorized the operation and under what legal justification • Why existing safeguards failed or were ignored • Full accountability for ICE leadership and the Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem must also be held accountable. Leadership does not get to distance itself from the outcomes of its policies. Continued reckless enforcement practices and lack of meaningful oversight are deliberate choices—and those choices are costing lives. Congressional silence is not neutrality. It is complicity. If Congress fails to act, it sends a clear message that federal agencies may operate without consequence, even when their actions result in death. That is not justice. That is not safety. That is an abuse of power. The American people demand answers. We demand transparency. And we demand accountability—now. Investigate this death fully. Release the findings publicly. Hold every responsible party accountable. Anything less is a failure of your oath and a betrayal of the people you serve.
