The United States must end its economic warfare against Iran and Russia. Sanctions overwhelmingly harm ordinary people, driving up costs, restricting access to essential goods, and degrading human well-being. Punishing entire populations in an attempt to pressure their governments is unacceptable. Using civilians as economic leverage is not diplomacy. I am equally opposed to any further U.S. military action against Iran. Withdraw U.S. forces from unauthorized hostilities and reassert Congress’s constitutional war powers. No more assassinations. No more escalation. No more war. I am calling on Congress to take specific action: • Reject the Senate-amended H.R. 5334, the Lindsey O. Graham Sanctioning Russia and Iran Act, and oppose its expansion of sanctions and economic pressure against Iran and Russia. • Do not extend the Iran Sanctions Act. Congress should be dismantling sanctions against Iran and pursuing diplomacy, not extending economic warfare for years to come. • Reject broad secondary tariffs and other measures designed to economically punish third countries for maintaining trade with Russia. • Pass H. Con. Res. 93, the Iran War Powers Resolution, and use Congress’s constitutional war powers to require the withdrawal of U.S. forces from unauthorized hostilities with Iran. • Oppose further authorization or funding for unauthorized military action against Iran. • Demand an immediate return to direct, sustained diplomacy rather than further sanctions, assassinations, military escalation, or war. Congress has a choice between continuing military and economic escalation and using its constitutional authority to help bring these conflicts to an end. I expect you to choose diplomacy and peace.
