Trump is clearly a Russian oligarch by another name, just another rich businessman operating at the behest of the Russian dictator. In an hour and a half long phone call, Putin was able to sell Trump large amounts of sanctioned diesel. And, apparently, get the US to turn off satellite-based intelligence assistance to Ukraine. But instead of investigations into Trump’s dealings with Russia, we have investigations aimed at former FBI and CIA heads who were exploring the fishy relationship between Trump and Moscow. Congress must first put a stop to the diesel deal and reaffirm the sanctions. Second, Congress must reinstate the intelligence sharing that enables Ukraine to avoid the worst of Russian atrocities.
