Presidential defiance of the Supreme Court

I am writing to express deep concern over the President’s flagrant and unlawful defiance of a unanimous ruling by the Supreme Court of the United States. This action represents not merely a political transgression, but a direct assault on the constitutional order that underpins our democracy. The President’s refusal to comply with the Supreme Court’s 9–0 decision regarding the wrongful deportation of Kilmar Armando Abrego Garcia demonstrates a dangerous contempt for the rule of law. Instead of acting in good faith to facilitate Mr. Abrego Garcia’s return, as explicitly ordered by the Court, the administration has misrepresented the ruling, shifted responsibility onto a foreign government, and failed to take meaningful steps to correct the unlawful deportation. These actions constitute a willful obstruction of the judiciary’s authority and a betrayal of the President’s sworn duty to faithfully execute the laws of the United States. No President has the constitutional authority to disregard a lawful order issued by the highest court in the land. The Constitution vests judicial power solely in the courts, not in the executive branch, and the enforcement of judicial orders is not optional. By ignoring the Court’s ruling, the President has violated the separation of powers and undermined the foundation of constitutional governance. This conduct strikes at the core of our legal system, eroding the principle that no person—especially not the President—is above the law. The oath of office requires the President to preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution. When that duty is abandoned, and when the authority of the Supreme Court is openly defied, Congress has not only the right but the obligation to act. This moment demands accountability. To preserve the legitimacy of our institutions and the rule of law, I urge you to pursue articles of impeachment on the grounds of abuse of power, obstruction of justice, and constitutional violations that threaten the balance of power itself. History will remember how Congress responded when faced with an executive who defied the judiciary. I implore you to act with the courage and clarity this moment demands.
