Make Illinois a National Model of Human Security
To: Gov. Pritzker

Please make Illinois a national model for measuring government by whether people are healthy, housed, educated, free, safe, and able to support their families.
I ask your administration to develop an Illinois Human Security Plan with measurable goals for reducing child poverty, homelessness, medical debt, food insecurity, untreated mental illness, preventable maternal and infant deaths, environmental contamination, and regional inequality.
The plan should include affordable health coverage, stronger rural medical services, childcare and paid-leave programs, housing construction, tenant protections, disability and caregiver support, equitable school funding, clean and reliable energy, public transportation, soil and water protection, and support for local agriculture and small businesses.
Please also strengthen government ethics, procurement transparency, public access to records, whistleblower protections, and restrictions on conflicts of interest.
Create a public dashboard showing spending, outcomes, regional disparities, and progress toward each goal. Illinois residents should be able to see not only what government spends, but whether those investments actually improve people’s lives.
