I am writing because I am scared for our country for the next 4 years. Donald Trump has shown open contempt for women and especially queer people repeatedly, and we must be prepared to deal with him as President for the next 4 years. As a woman, and on behalf of my queer friends and neighbors I am asking you to give us one big piece of protection from future attacks on our rights: The Equal Rights Amendment. While I understand that you hoped to publish it with the backing of Congress, the people whose lives and liberty are at stake cannot afford to wait any longer. Please, prove you will listen when women tell you what we need. Publish the ERA as the 28th Amendment. Mr. President, how long must women wait for liberty?
