I am writing as an outraged and deeply concerned citizen who is shocked by the hypocrisy of our government’s priorities. While lawmakers chase low-level immigration offenses, Congress ignores the most dangerous fraud of all - Elon Musk, who is now actively undermining our national security and economic well being. Instead of addressing these critical threats, our legislators pursue political theater. They focus on criminalizing desperate migrants while ignoring Musk’s conflict of interest with China, his theft of American data, and his dismantling of vital programs like USAID - programs that support Pennsylvania’s farmers by providing access to global markets, agricultural research, and export development. Cuts to USAID funding directly weaken the very support systems that help our farmers remain competitive on the world stage, leaving them vulnerable to rising costs and reduced international demand. Meanwhile, his actions contribute to gutting federal support that is vital to Kentucky’s economy. The Department of Government Efficiency’s (DOGE) reckless budget cuts are devastating to Pennsylvania. They are slashing funding for infrastructure, agricultural support, and rural development - programs that, although representing a fraction of the federal budget, are essential for our economic stability. I demand that Congress, under your leadership, take immediate action to: -End taxpayer-funded subsidies and government contracts for Musk and others who exploit our system. -Arrest Musk for his national security violations and conflicts of interest, including funneling American data and technology to China. -Restore critical federal funding—including USAID programs—that support Pennsylvania’s agricultural development and rural communities. As Henry Clay once stated, “Government is a trust, and the officers of the government are trustees; and both the trust and the trustees are created for the benefit of the people.” Will you honor that trust and stand with Pennsylvania’s farmers, workers, and families, or will you allow an unelected oligarch and punitive tariffs to decide our state’s future? The people of Pennsylvania are watching - and we will not forget.
