I am writing to ensure that all senators and House Representatives sign on to the letter released by Congressman Adam Smith of Washington on Friday demanding justice for the American peace activist Ayşenur Ezgi Eygi (pronounced Ayesha Noor Ezgi Aygi) who was brutally murdered by the IDF in the West Bank on September 6th. The letter calls on the White House, State Department, and Department of Justice to lead an independent, thorough, credible, and transparent investigation into the killing of Ms. Eygi. It also calls for full accountability of all perpetrators of this horrific crime.
The letter specifically requests answers to the following questions:
1. What does the U.S. government currently know about the circumstances surrounding Ms.
Eygi's killing?
1. Will the U.S. government conduct an independent, thorough, credible, and transparent investigation into the killing of Ms. Eygi?
2. What would be the proposed timeline and plan for such an investigation?
3. How will the U.S. government seek accountability if the Israeli government refuses to cooperate with such an investigation?
We cannot allow our taxpayer money to be used to manufacture American weapons which are then shipped overseas to massacre our very own peaceful citizens.
Your office can look up the letter on the Quill system under congressman Adam Smith. The letter closes COB Wednesday, September 18. If you have any questions, you can reach out to Catherine Liu in Congressman Smith's office (catherine.liu@mail.house.gov).
THIS IS AN URGENT MATTER. THE DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSION OF THE LETTER IS WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 18TH. THERE IS NO REASON WHY EVERY CONGRESSPERSON SHOULD NOT SIGN THIS LETTER. PLEASE SIGN ON NOW.
