Vote no on HB 2771

To: Rep. Harris Davila, Lt. Gov. Patrick, Gov. Abbott, Sen. Schwertner

From: A constituent in Leander, TX

April 11

I am writing today to express my strong opposition to HB 2771, which I believe will make our communities less safe and put more Texans at risk of gun violence.   Texas already has some of the weakest gun laws in the country, and yet we continue to see proposals that would further roll back even basic safety measures. Instead of making it easier to carry guns in more places or weakening enforcement, we should be focused on proven solutions—like safe storage, raising the age to purchase semi-automatic rifles, and keeping guns out of the hands of people who pose a danger to themselves or others.   As a concerned Texan, I urge you to reject this harmful legislation. The vast majority of Texans support common-sense gun safety laws. We deserve to live in communities where we feel safe—not ones where gun violence is treated as inevitable.   Please vote NO on any bills that would weaken existing gun safety laws or put more guns into sensitive spaces.   Thank you for considering my perspective.
