Tulsi Gabbard's nomination as Director of National Intelligence raises significant concerns due to her lack of experience in the intelligence field and troubling associations. As a former congresswoman with no background in intelligence work, she lacks the necessary qualifications to oversee 18 intelligence agencies effectively. Moreover, her past defense of dictators like Bashar al-Assad and her alleged parroting of Russian disinformation erode confidence in her ability to provide objective analysis free from foreign influence. Former National Security Advisor John Bolton has gone so far as to suggest an FBI investigation into Gabbard before any confirmation hearing, citing national security threats. Our country's intelligence community must maintain independence and credibility, speaking truth to power without bias. Gabbard's track record calls into question whether she can uphold these vital principles. Confirming Gabbard could also jeopardize intelligence sharing with allies due to concerns over her cavalier approach to guarding classified information. The Senate has a responsibility to thoroughly vet nominees and ensure they can protect our nation's secrets and those of our partners. For these reasons, I urge you to vote against confirming Tulsi Gabbard as Director of National Intelligence. Her lack of relevant experience combined with her concerning rhetoric and associations make her unfit for this critical national security role overseeing America's intelligence agencies.
