I am requesting urgent assistance regarding Sarafinah Bukirwa, a Kentucky community member currently detained by ICE at Grayson County Detention Center in Leitchfield, Kentucky. Sarafinah has sickle cell anemia, a serious medical condition requiring timely and properly administered medication. She was hospitalized at University of Louisville Hospital shortly before her detention due to a sickle cell crisis. We are requesting emergency medical care assistance be administered. We have received reports that: All of her prescribed medication have not been administered as required; During a call to her brother on 7/28 at 9:50pm, she shared that she is experiencing heart palpitations, vomiting, has dark urine, cold feet, swelling and hardness on her right side. Her condition is rapidly deteriorating. She needs immediate medical attention. We respectfully request that your office: Initiate an urgent medical evaluation with the appropriate agencies regarding Sarafinah’s worsening symptoms and medical care; Thank you for your immediate attention to this urgent matter.
