Demand a full congressional investigation into ICE-linked deaths and kidnappings, and halt the current enforcement surge immediately. People are dying. Four Haitian women deported from Puerto Rico were found murdered in a river bordering the Dominican Republic, believed to be victims of gang kidnapping for ransom. Deaths in detention have doubled since 2025. Paulino Martin San Pedro was deported to Mexico, hospitalized, and died days later from pneumonia. ICE no longer even reports deaths after release.
This is not enforcement. It is recklessness with human lives. New ICE agents receive only 56 days of training before deployment. The NYT reported over 10,000 detentions in five days, with documented incidents of agents tackling and tazing people, causing traffic accidents, and storming homes with children inside. Immigration attorney Ysabel Lonazco told the NYT her clients are afraid to leave their homes to buy groceries. A nun was detained walking to Sunday Mass.
You have oversight authority. Use it. Subpoena DHS records on post-deportation deaths, launch a formal investigation into the murders of the deported Haitian women, and push to suspend these operations until there is real accountability. Every day without action is a choice to let this continue.
