Protect FEMA from Elimination

To: Sen. McCormick, Sen. Fetterman, Rep. Smucker

From: A constituent in Lititz, PA

July 16

The administration's plan to "wean off" FEMA and shift the burden of disaster response to states is reckless and endangers lives. With climate change fueling more frequent and severe natural disasters, a robust federal emergency management agency is crucial. Cutting FEMA's funding and staffing hobbles its ability to respond swiftly when disaster strikes. We rely on FEMA's coordination to save lives and aid recovery efforts that individual states cannot shoulder alone. Restore full funding and staffing to FEMA to uphold our nation's commitment to protecting communities devastated by unpreventable emergencies. Eliminating this essential agency would be an unconscionable dereliction of duty.
