Vote no on any budget bill that cuts healthcare subsidies to fund Operation Epic Fury. House Budget Committee Chairman Jodey Arrington's plan to claw back over $30 billion in health insurance assistance would strip coverage from 300,000 Americans. Lower-income families who depend on these subsidies would see no benefit from the 11 percent premium reduction because their assistance would be slashed.
This isn't about eliminating fraud and waste. This is about taking healthcare from working families to pay for a war that 61 percent of Americans oppose, according to Pew Research Center. We shouldn't be forcing Americans to choose between medical care and funding military operations to seize Kharg Island and deploy thousands more troops to the Middle East.
I pay taxes to protect my family's health and security, not to fund an unpopular war on the backs of people who can least afford it. The partial government shutdown already shows how reckless budget priorities damage real lives. Reject Arrington's proposal and any similar cuts to healthcare programs.
