Ban Assault Riles Nation Wide NOW

To: Sen. Cruz, Sen. Cornyn, Rep. Crockett

From: A constituent in Dallas, TX

April 27

I’m writing because this can’t keep going on. In just the first month of 2026, 1,000 people were killed in shootings involving assault weapons. That’s not abstract, that’s families, friends, communities being torn apart in a matter of weeks. And when these weapons or large capacity magazines are used, the damage is far worse: nearly 14 times as many people are injured and twice as many are killed. We already know what the problem is. We already know what makes these shootings deadlier. Yet access to these weapons is still wide open in most of the country. Only ten states have bans in place, and just two go as far as stopping their sale or manufacturing. That’s not a real solution, it’s a loophole. People are tired of hearing “nothing can be done.” Something can be done, and it starts with you. We need a nationwide ban on assault weapons and high capacity magazines, no more waiting, no more passing the responsibility around. This isn’t about politics anymore. It’s about whether we’re willing to accept this level of violence as normal. We shouldn’t be. Please act now.
