Vote NO on H.J. Res. 140

To: Sen. Baldwin, Sen. Johnson, Rep. Van Orden

From: A constituent in La Crosse, WI

April 15

Do not destroy America’s most visited wilderness! Save the boundary waters. The House already passed H.J. Res. 140 a resolution that would wipe out the 20-year mining ban protecting the Boundary Waters watershed in Minnesota. 225,000 acres of Superior National Forest. 1,100 lakes. The most visited wilderness in the country. If it passes, the protections are gone. The impacts to my family, friends, and tourists alike that hike and canoe peacefully through this national treasure will be instead swimming through mining run off and pollution that cannot be easily reversed and will be present for generations to come. This will impact heath and safety of our drinking water. And the company that wants to mine there? It’s Chilean-owned Twin Metals, which plans to ship the ore to China. This isn’t “America First.” This is selling out American public lands to foreign interests permanently. Vote NO on H.J. Res. 140.
