I’m writing to urge you to support the Interior Department Workforce Act (H.R. 3045/S. 1434), a bipartisan bill that strengthens protections for the dedicated professionals who steward our public lands.
This legislation ensures that federal employees in the Department of the Interior—like park rangers, wildlife biologists, and cultural resource specialists—are not unfairly penalized for seasonal or term-based work. These roles are vital to conservation, recreation, and tribal consultation, yet current hiring practices leave many workers in limbo, unable to access benefits or long-term career pathways.
The Interior Department Workforce Act would fix this by allowing service time in term positions to count toward career status, improving retention and equity across the agency. It’s a commonsense step toward honoring the people who care for our national parks, wildlife refuges, and sacred lands.
Please support this bill and help protect the workforce behind America’s public lands.
Thank you.
