Taxing employer-provided health care coverage would be detrimental to hardworking Americans across the country. This regressive policy would disproportionately burden middle-class families by increasing their health care costs and reducing access to quality coverage. As Congress debates paying for tax cuts, they must reject proposals that finance tax relief on the backs of workers through higher taxes on their health benefits. Instead, lawmakers should pursue fair and equitable solutions that do not jeopardize the financial security or well-being of ordinary Americans struggling with rising costs. Maintaining affordable employer-sponsored insurance is critical for millions and should be a top priority. Imposing new taxes that diminish health coverage is an unacceptable approach that would undermine efforts to make quality care accessible and affordable for all.
