No War on Venezuela

To: Sen. Husted, Sen. Moreno, Rep. Carey

From: A verified voter in Hilliard, OH

December 17

Americans do not want a war with Venezuela. President Trump has an appropriate name because he keeps “trumping” charges against fisherman and now entire countries. Why do we have a blockade of Venezuela? What has that country ever done to us? And if the president does not like Maduro, then perhaps someone should remind the president that we are not in the business of regime change according to the United Nations. No one wants our sons and daughters to be involved in a war over Trump’s ego and his greed for all those oil fields in Venezuela. Furthermore, we should not be killing innocent fisherman in order to create war porn for the president and his supporters. This is a war crime and someone needs to be held accountable. Imagine if another country killed our fishermen because they claimed they were somehow a threat to their nation. These small boats could not even reach our shores without refueling several times. These were not drug runners. And if they were, they should be tried on smuggling charges. The whole nation is nervously waiting to see what nonsense the president will spew tonight. And if he declares war on Venezuela, it is your responsibility to remind him who holds the power to declare war. This president thinks he can do whatever he wants. You need to tell him differently for the sake of our democracy. Thank you.
