The ongoing strife between Israelis and Palestinians is a human tragedy that no conscience can ignore. Each day, I am horrified by news of innocent lives lost, homes destroyed, neighborhoods turned into war zones; each story more unbearable than the one before. And in this turmoil, as an American, I find myself implicated, as it comes to light how prolifically our tax dollars fuel this violence. We must act, act immediately and decisively, to put an end to such heart-wrenching violation of human rights.
By continuing to financially support Israel and supply arms, we indirectly condone the terrible aggression towards Palestinian civilians. We watch, tied by apathy, as our money transforms into the very weapons that tear apart the lives of thousands of innocent people. This incredible injustice burrows deep, leaving an indelible stain on our collective conscience, challenging our supposed standing as a beacon of liberty and justice for all.
It is time to reassess our foreign policies and priorities. To this end, I implore our government to stop facilitating crimes against humanity. Demand a ceasefire! Stop the funding! End the arms supply! No political, historical, or financial excuse can justify the continuation of such horrific violence. We must place the value of human life, peace, and decency over any political manipulations. Let's not only preach about morals and human rights, let's act to protect them. Remember, we are representatives of humanity first, anything else is secondary.
