Investigate DOGE's access to sensitive government data

To: Rep. Bonamici

From: A constituent in Portland, OR

April 19

DOGE's access to sensitive data held by federal agencies like the NLRB is deeply concerning and raises serious privacy and security risks. The whistleblower disclosure provides evidence that DOGE may have improperly accessed and removed data from the NLRB's systems, including personal information about union members, witness testimony, and proprietary business data. This alleged breach violates numerous federal laws like the Privacy Act that protect this type of sensitive information. Even more alarming, DOGE representatives have now been assigned to work directly at the NLRB, potentially giving them further access to the agency's systems and data despite the ongoing questions around their previous activities. Allowing an unaccountable entity like DOGE to operate with virtually no oversight or transparency puts Americans' private data at risk of misuse or exploitation. We need a full investigation into DOGE's access and actions across the federal government to truly understand what data they have obtained, how they are using it, and whether any laws have been broken. DOGE staff should be immediately restricted from accessing any more government data systems until these concerns have been properly addressed. Protecting the public's privacy and data security must be the top priority. Aggressive steps are needed to rein in DOGE's overreach and potential abuse of power.
