Tax payer money pays to keep our city running and running well. DC33 deserves living wages. If the mayoral admin can all make upwards of $150,000 per year, and a $261,000 mayoral salary with an $8,000 raise for 2026, I believe there is money to spread to other people.
In a time of rife uncertainty in our country, where health care isn’t guaranteed and inflation continues to rise, DC33 deserves their healthcare to be fantastic and to be guaranteed, and their wages to be comfortable and livable. These people - not the mayoral cabinet, but the people on the ground - keep the city running. Move the ego. Pay this union.
And for an aside, as always, I am vehemently against and even aghast I have to say this — tax money going to police officers and barricades around a mayors private residence is likely not only not OK, it may not be legal use of resources and is certainly not a condoned use of my taxpayer money that I pay taxes for.
Pay DC33.
