Thank You for the Housing Vote — Now Fight Back Against the SAVE Act Hostage Situation

To: Sen. Wicker, Sen. Hyde-Smith

From: A verified voter in Starkville, MS

June 25

Thank you for voting yes on the 21st Century Road to Housing Act. In one of the poorest states in the country, out-of-state investors are vacuuming up single-family homes and rents are climbing out of reach for working families. This bill passed both chambers overwhelmingly because the need is real and urgent. Don't let it die on the vine. Trump's decision to hold the housing bill hostage until Congress passes the SAVE Act is a tantrum, not a policy position. The SAVE Act would require a birth certificate or passport to register to vote — documents millions of legal citizens simply don't have on hand. Even the Heritage Foundation, one of the loudest voices against voter fraud, has documented only 68 cases of noncitizen voting since the 1980s. We're being asked to disenfranchise millions of real voters to solve a problem that barely exists. Courts have already struck down the administration's voter roll access attempts in all nine cases decided so far. Please hold the line on the housing bill and refuse to let the SAVE Act be the price of passage. Push back loudly and publicly. My neighbors need housing relief, not a manufactured voting crisis designed to suppress legitimate participation.
