Please Oppose the SAVE Act – Protect Every American’s Voice

To: Sen. Ricketts, Sen. Fischer, Rep. Bacon

From: A constituent in Omaha, NE

April 11

I’m writing to express my deep concern about the SAVE Act. This bill feels like a step backward to a time when only certain people—mostly men—were allowed to have a say in the direction of our country. By approving this bill, you are effectively saying that married women of voting age don’t deserve a voice. That our elderly citizens, our military service members, and so many others who’ve worked and sacrificed for this country don’t deserve a voice. That their votes—our votes—don’t matter. That’s not the America I believe in. We should be making it easier for eligible citizens to vote, not creating barriers that silence them. The SAVE Act threatens the rights of people who already face challenges and scrutiny just to exercise the most basic part of our democracy. I beg of you—please do not pass the SAVE Act. Stand up for your constituents. Stand up for democracy. Stand up for the right of every American to be heard.
