I am a mother of two school-age children, a teacher, and a proud member of my community in Waukesha, Wisconsin. I am concerned about decisions regarding the ongoing conflict between Iran and Israel, and what role the U.S. may play.
I understand the the U.S. may need to play some type of role in this rapidly escalating situation. However, I am concerned by recent remarks by the president that seem to imply the decisions will be "his".
Over the past months, the president has shown a tendency to leap into decisions quickly, with inaccurate data or long-term considerations in mind. He has made rapid-fire decisions about our economy -- such as threatening tariffs, enacting them, revoking them, and more -- as only one example of his decision-making process.
I do not wish the president to make similar decisions about this conflict and our role. I would like any decisions about our role in military or diplomatic actions with Iran and Israel to be made in a collective, with Congress and seasoned, bipartisan Middle East experts at the forefront.
Please speak up today to ensure that key military and diplomatic decisions are made carefully, with accurate facts, and by groups of people with knowledge and experience to lead us well and wisely in this challenging set of events. Thank you.
