Today I'm asking you to support the National Popular Vote Compact and help bring it across the finish line. With 18 states and DC now representing 222 electoral votes, we need just 48 more to ensure that the presidential candidate who wins the most votes nationwide becomes president.
The current system makes my vote irrelevant. Under the Electoral College, candidates focus entirely on battleground states while ignoring the rest of us. Four out of five Americans live in states where their presidential vote doesn't matter because the outcome is predetermined. That's not democracy—that's a system that suppresses turnout and silences millions of voters.
The Constitution gives states the power to assign electors however they choose, which is exactly what this compact does. It's been upheld by courts and doesn't require a constitutional amendment. A majority of Americans already support determining the winner by popular vote, and this has been a bipartisan effort in many states over the past 20 years.
Every vote should count equally, no matter where you live. Support the National Popular Vote Compact.
Thank you.
