The US Institute of Peace is a nonpartisan independent nonprofit organization, established by Congress and outside of the executive branch. It is subject to congressional oversight to ensure it continues to meet its goals, as it has done since its founding under the Congress serving during the Reagan administration. The so-called department of governmental efficiency and rogue oligarch Elon Musk have no legitimate authority to storm USIP or to forcibly remove its leadership and employees. Congressional oversight requires action and accountability when a nonprofit organization under your care is involved in a hostile takeover. Act quickly. Demand accountability. Reinstate the rightful independent leadership, board, and employees who work to maintain peace and American values—-which have been nonpartisan, uncontroversial, and steady, for decades before this president sought to upend America’s place among her friends and allies in the world.
