Reject Budget Cutting Vital Programs, Favoring Wealthy Over Families

To: Sen. Husted, Sen. Moreno, Rep. Kaptur

From: A verified voter in Toledo, OH

February 26

This budget resolution proposes significant spending cuts across numerous federal programs, including major reductions to mandatory spending programs like Medicaid, SNAP (food stamps), and others. It also calls for trillions in tax cuts that would primarily benefit wealthy individuals and corporations. I cannot support these policies, which would gut vital social safety net programs that millions of families rely on while rewarding the rich with more tax breaks. Instead of inflicting harm on vulnerable populations, we should be investing in policies that lift people out of poverty, provide affordable healthcare and nutrition assistance, and build a stronger middle class through fair tax policies. Budgets are a statement of our values, and this proposal moves us in the wrong direction by favoring the wealthy over working families struggling to make ends meet. I urge you to reject this budget resolution and its misguided priorities. Our nation deserves better than policies that increase economic inequality and insecurity for the most vulnerable. We need a federal budget that reflects our highest ideals of justice, compassion, and opportunity for all.
