I am deeply concerned by recent online posts blaming Democrats for the government shutdown. These kinds of partisan attacks do not reflect reality and only deepen public division at a time when cooperation is most needed.
The fact is, Republicans currently hold the majority, and with that majority comes greater responsibility. To claim otherwise is misleading and undermines trust in government. Worse still, using your public platform in this way raises serious questions about compliance with the Hatch Act, which exists to prevent federal officials from misusing their positions for partisan purposes.
Every time you use your office to point fingers instead of working toward a solution, you erode faith in our democracy. Federal employees, contractors, and ordinary Americans are the ones who pay the price when government grinds to a halt—not politicians posting online.
As your constituent, I am asking you to stop the partisan blame, stop dividing the public, and instead focus on working with both parties to keep our government open and functioning. That is your job, and I expect you to do it.
