More on the dog who finally caught the car… This week, the WH budget office announced it was unilaterally cancelling $4.9B in foreign aid funding passed by Congress. CDC in crisis caused by RFK Jr. Competence is fired. The WH has appointed a former speechwriter at DHHS as interim director. He has no training in either medicine or the science of infectious diseases. He supported the use of ivermectin and hydroxychloroquine to treat covid despite no evidence they worked. And has embraced conspiracy theories about covid. Their key public-health report relied on fake studies concocted by AI. Kennedy has slashed through advisory bodies. He’s limiting access to covid vaccines. And he recently mused about watching children in airports and realizing they have mitochondrial challenges. Over at the SSA, the WH forced the Chief Data Officer to resign. Acting as a whistleblower, he identified serious data breaches that leave more than 300M Americans at risk of identity theft and loss of benefits. This week at the EPA the WH fired at least 7 employees for signing a letter criticizing the agency’s leadership for undermining “the EPA mission of protecting human health and the environment.” All of these things and more are being done in the name of we the people. As an EPA spokesperson put it, dedicated civil servants trying to protect the country and people they serve are instead trying to “unlawfully undermine, sabotage, and undercut the will of the American public that was clearly expressed at the ballot box last November.” Claiming a mandate for policies that create a license to literally kill constituents is not something ANYONE voted for, or endorses. Last week DNI Director Tulsi Gabbard outed a senior undercover CIA officer when she published a list of 37 current and former officials from whom she was stripping security clearances. She did not consult with the CIA before posting the list on X. And said she was acting on Trump’s orders. The WH is trying to work around Congress. The courts have struck down much of the Trump agenda. Tariffs have been deemed illegal. And we the people are disgusted. And outraged. More so every day. Trump and his ilk have spent years carping about the government and how much better they would be doing if they were the ones in charge. They were given what they asked for. And now they are unwilling, or more likely unable, to do the actual work of governing. Instead, the WH is simply declaring emergencies and then announcing policies they claim will address those emergencies. When their policies backfire or raise opposition, they claim they are being sabotaged by the deep state or that statistics are wrong. Here’s the MAGA governing philosophy in a nutshell…”If you’re an expert who gets one thing wrong, it damns you. If you’re a total lunatic crank who gets one thing right, it makes you bulletproof.”
