The Banner's report that Bill Ferguson is declaring Maryland will not partake in redistricting is unacceptable. Mr. Ferguson must realize that the time to act is NOW. Red states are already redistricting so Mr. Ferguson's claim that Maryland would only be instigating another state to do so is a fallacy. If we are to preserve the ability for elections to reflect the populace of the country, our state needs to put it's thumb on the scale. Unilateral disarmament in the face of this existential threat is an act of absolute cowardice. The time is now, the threat is here, either defend democracy or get out of the way. Ferguson should RESIGN if he does not have the fortitude for this fight. We do not have time for leaders who still view the landscape through the old lens. Action is required. Now.
