I am a member of Indivisible Westside LA.
Yesterday, Donald Trump threatened that "a whole civilization will die tonight." Luckily he seems to have accepted a cease-fire, but the majority of my acquaintances spent yesterday in a blind panic, wondering what would happen. We cannot live like this, and I am appalled that you didn't even put out a tepid statement condemning this lunacy. A handful of your democratic colleagues suggested that either the 25th amendment should be invoked or he should be impeached. The 25th amendment is a non-starter. I am writing to ask that you loudly and forcefully encourage your colleagues in the house to file articles of impeachment under rule IX to force an expedient vote and vote to remove him once it passes. Donald Trump has violated the constitution more times than I can count, and it is your constitutional duty to remove him from office. The damage he has done to this country and it's international standing is immense. I'm guessing your colleagues calling for his impeachment are breathing a sigh of relief that they might not actually have to go through with it now, and they are hoping they can just ride it out until midterms and then pretend to rein him in via legislative action. That is not acceptable. I will not forget, and not only that, but if you do not take steps to remove this man from office immediately I will not vote for your re-election. This is your job. You need to do it.
