Our state needs to take a good hard look at private companies operated by billionaires and seriously evaluate their roles in both the government and the lives of citizens. Recently, Elon Musk ordered the slow down of the military grade Starlink system being used by Ukraine in its defense against Russia. This slowdown allowed Russian missiles to get past Ukrainian defenses. While this act alone is infuriating, I am further alarmed that the government is allowing the actions of the privileged few to have such wide ranging impact on governments both foreign and domestic. This is not the first time Elon and the billionaire class have made such consequential decisions. The US and countries supported by the US are still feeling the impacts of shutdown of USAID. I'm calling on our elected leaders to sever government involvement with the billionaire class as much as possible and to implement severe penalties when billionaires engage in such negative behavior.
