Oppose Efforts to Ban Delta-8 and Hemp – Respect Nebraska Voters' Will
To: Sen. Cavanaugh
From: A constituent in Omaha, NE
May 28
I am writing as a concerned Nebraska resident and voter to strongly oppose the proposed ban on delta-8 THC and hemp-derived products. This follows the Legislature’s previous decision not to pass a medical THC bill, which already ignored the clear desire of Nebraska voters for accessible cannabis reform.
Nebraskans have consistently expressed support for safe, regulated access to hemp and cannabis-derived products through petitions and public opinion. Attempts to ban delta-8 and hemp directly contradict the will of the people and would harm small businesses, farmers, and individuals who responsibly use these products for health and wellness.
Banning hemp-derived cannabinoids not only undermines the 2018 federal Farm Bill but also threatens economic opportunity and personal freedom in our state. Rather than prohibition, we should be working toward a regulated market that ensures consumer safety while respecting personal choice.
I urge you to vote against any bill that would ban delta-8 THC or hemp products in Nebraska. Please stand with your constituents and support common-sense cannabis policy reform that reflects the values and voices of Nebraskans.
Thank you for your time and service.
