Urgent: Immediate Data Center Moratorium

To: Gov. Spanberger

From: A verified voter in Springfield, VA

August 2

I am writing to urge you to issue an executive order establishing an immediate moratorium on the approval and development of new data centers across Virginia. Our local water supplies, electrical grid reliability, and utility ratepayer costs are facing severe, mounting pressures from the unmanaged proliferation of these facilities. As State Senator Louise Lucas rightly noted in response to recent calls for a pause, the current status quo cannot continue, and a statewide halt on new development deserves serious consideration and immediate attention. We must pause new approvals to thoroughly evaluate our infrastructure limits before the damage to our natural resources and communities becomes irreversible. Please take decisive action and institute a moratorium now.
