Trump is really reaching way too far in trying to stop voting by mail ( which himself does regularly) and raising the issue of birthright citizenship, now before the Supreme Court. Eliminating vote by mail would make it much more difficult for millions of voters - those with medical conditions that would have trouble getting to the polls, many veterans, millions of the elderly and others. He would probably like to restrict voting to his friends and donors. On birthright citizenship, I hope SCOTUS eventually rules to keep the interpretation that has held up until now: born in the US, you’re a US citizen. They are the lucky ones. In my family, we had a different issue. My father worked for the State Department and had 5 kids, each one born on one his first five overseas assignments. A prime example of bringing home a souvenir from each country😊. Fortunately both my parents were born in the US, and as my father represented the US in a diplomatic capacity, we were automatically considered US citizens by a Consular report of birth of a citizen born overseas. I actually had a US diplomatic passport until I was 21. Citizenship is not something to be taken lightly. It is a privilege. I served 6 years in the military ( mostly overseas), including a time in Viet Nam, and I vote regularly and pay taxes. I have seen how people live in other countries and consider myself lucky to be an American. I have been proud to be an American until the Trump years, especially now. We need to get this country back to its former place in the world. Keep the faith that we will.
