I am writing to urge you to reject the nomination of Tulsi Gabbard as director of national intelligence. Gabbard lacks the relevant experience and has made concerning statements that raise doubts about her ability to lead the intelligence community objectively. Gabbard has a track record of amplifying Russian propaganda and siding with dictators like Bashar al-Assad over United States' interests. In 2017, she met with Assad and downplayed his regime's use of chemical weapons against civilians, contradicting the U.S. stance. More recently, she accused the U.S. of provoking Russia's invasion of Ukraine and pushed Russian disinformation about U.S.-funded biolabs in Ukraine. As a former Democrat who left the party over baseless claims of it being a "cabal of warmongers," Gabbard's partisan shift raises concerns about her ability to lead intelligence agencies in a non-partisan manner. Her statements aligning with Kremlin talking points also undermine confidence in her commitment to protecting U.S. national security interests against hostile foreign powers. The role of DNI requires vast intelligence experience and an unwavering dedication to upholding democratic values and truth. Gabbard's controversial views and lack of relevant background make her unfit for this crucial position overseeing America's intelligence apparatus. I urge you to reject her nomination to maintain the integrity and impartiality of U.S. intelligence.
