SO WRONG ON IT ALL

Greetings. I am a voting constituent in rural west Texas. I know your party, destroyer of women’s bodily autonomy, like to pretend that abortion is a non-issue, old news, not top of mind with anyone except disgruntled childless cat ladies. Your candidates not only tiptoe around the issue, they run away like an Olympic sprinter. So it’s good to keep reminding you and yours how wrong you are. Trump at a news conference Thursday said he believes the issue of abortion bans is resolved because it is being decided on by states — Do you have a clue what life is like for women in your home state when they an issue with their pregnancy? Unclear laws, written by ideologues, not doctors, has led to confusion, denial of treatment, physical and mental trauma that is unconscionable. “I’ve done what every Democrat and every Republican wanted to have done,” Trump said. “And we brought that issue back to the states.” And, again, states with strict bans are not putting the health and welfare of their citizens first. In fact, our Gov. Abbott confessed as much on CNN when he said he knew nothing about a recent study that found infant deaths in Texas surged 12.9% between 2021 and 2022, when the state’s strict abortion ban first went into effect, while infant mortality rates rose 8.3% in the state in that time period. The study found that the rest of the U.S. saw a 1.8% increase in infant deaths and a 2.2% increase in infant mortality rates during that time. And he knows nothing about all that. But he does know that Dems murder babies after birth. Trump campaign spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt said in a statement. “President Trump has been very clear — he supports the rights of states to make decisions on abortion.” See above. Big Brother is alive and well. Later in the news conference, Trump was asked if he would direct the Food and Drug Administration to “revoke access” to mifepristone, a medication used for abortions, and he did not reject the idea. (His campaign later said he didn’t hear the question and maintained the issue is settled because the Supreme Court declined to limit mifepristone access.) So the old guy can’t hear. Good excuse considering he’s supposed to be the vital, virile octogenarian in the race. Plus, since when did SCOTUS precedent mean anything? That’s why I’m writing to you remember? So please carry on in delusion and denial. Just like the big guy who brought us to this point.
