I am writing to urge you to oppose the confirmation of Casey Means as Surgeon General.
She is not qualified for this role. She left her residency without completing it, has not practiced medicine in years, and her medical license has been inactive since 2019. She has no plans to reactivate it. The American Public Health Association called her less qualified than any Surgeon General in history. That alone should end this nomination.
But her record is also dangerous. At her confirmation hearing on February 25, 2026, she would not reject the debunked claim that vaccines cause autism. She has publicly questioned the childhood vaccine schedule and called widespread use of birth control a sign that we have lost respect for life. She wraps these views in wellness language, but the effect is the same: less access, fewer choices, and more harm, especially for women.
We are already watching measles return because public health leadership decided skepticism was a valid medical position. We cannot place someone with no active license and a history of spreading misinformation into the most influential health office in the country.
