I am writing to urge you to co-sponsor the Reimagining Safety Act. Representative Ramirez's bill is a serious, overdue response to a department that has drifted far from its original mission into aggressive immigration enforcement that has swept up people with no criminal records and sparked violent clashes with American citizens. DHS has had 25 years to get this right. Instead, ICE runs mass detention programs, monitors immigrants with ankle devices, and conducts arrests that are tearing apart communities that voted across party lines in 2024. The Reimagining Safety Act doesn't abandon government responsibilities. It keeps FEMA, TSA, CISA, and the Coast Guard functioning under appropriate departments while building a civil immigration system with actual due process under the Department of Justice. This is the right moment to take a stand. Immigration enforcement as it exists today lacks accountability, and the public knows it. Support this bill.
