I am writing as a constituent to express my deep disappointment and concern regarding your continued silence in response to the inflammatory rhetoric consistently used by President Donald Trump.
At a time when our country is already facing significant division and heightened tensions, words from prominent political figures carry enormous weight. Rhetoric that amplifies anger, spreads mistrust, or appears to condone hostility does not exist in a vacuum—it has real consequences for public safety, democratic stability, and the well-being of communities across the nation.
This concern is not abstract. In his April 7 post on Truth Social, Mr. Trump warned that “a whole civilization will die.” Statements like this—dramatic and alarmist—can inflame fear and deepen instability at a moment when responsible leadership is most needed.
I find it troubling not only when such rhetoric goes unchallenged, but when those entrusted with leadership and public service choose not to address it at all. Silence in these moments can be interpreted as indifference or even tacit approval, and it undermines the responsibility elected officials have to uphold democratic norms and promote unity.
I urge you to take a clear and public stand against language and behavior that puts our country at greater risk. Leadership requires more than policy positions; it requires the courage to speak out when fundamental values are at stake.
As your constituent, I expect thoughtful, principled leadership—especially in moments that test the strength of our democracy. I hope you will act accordingly.
