Rein in DOGE, defend democracy from private overreach

To: Sen. Haley, Rep. Oropeza, Gov. Kelly

From: A constituent in Kansas City, KS

February 9

I am writing to express deep concern over the unchecked power and lack of oversight being afforded to Elon Musk and his Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). Reports indicate DOGE has been granted sweeping authority to gut federal agencies, fire career civil servants, and access sensitive government data systems - all without any legal mandate or transparency. This is an unacceptable violation of the checks and balances crucial to our democratic system of government. No private citizen, especially one whose business interests are directly regulated by the federal government, should wield such unilateral influence over its operations. The potential for abuse and conflicts of interest is staggering. I urge you to take immediate action to rein in DOGE's overreach and reassert Congressional oversight. Musk's hostile takeover of government functions jeopardizes the independence of federal agencies tasked with serving the public interest rather than corporate agendas. This reckless power grab cannot be allowed to continue unchallenged. Robust investigative hearings and new legislative guardrails are imperative to uphold democratic accountability. The American people deserve a federal government that works for them, not for the whims and profit motives of billionaires like Musk. Defending the institutional integrity of our government from such a brazen private invasion is a constitutional obligation I implore you to uphold without delay. Thank you for your urgent attention to this alarming matter.
