H.R. 722 poses a grave threat to women's fundamental rights, enabling unconstitutional government overreach into their most personal healthcare decisions. This draconian bill would criminalize miscarriages, an already traumatic experience over which women have no control, compounding their grief and suffering. It strips women of bodily autonomy by banning abortion even when medically necessary to save their lives, as in cases of ectopic pregnancies or severe complications. Forcing women to carry non-viable pregnancies that endanger their lives is a flagrant violation of their Constitutional rights. Victims of rape or incest would be re-victimized, compelled to bear their rapist's child in a perverse injustice. While exerting extreme control over women's bodies, the bill hypocritically imposes no comparable constraints on men. This glaring double standard lays bare the discriminatory, misogynistic underpinnings of legislation better suited to the dystopian world of The Handmaid's Tale. With fundamental freedoms under assault, the time to reject this unconstitutional, anti-woman agenda is now before such oppressive policies further erode human rights protections.
