Israel Palestine War

To: V.P. Harris

From: A constituent in Dundalk, MD

August 19

The ongoing violence between Israel and Hamas in Gaza has resulted in a dire humanitarian crisis for Palestinian civilians. Over 40,000 Palestinians have been killed, the vast majority of whom were women and children according to the Gaza Health Ministry. Approximately 2.3 million Palestinians have sought refuge in Rafah, living in extremely precarious conditions as essential supplies and aid are unable to reach them due to the chaos of war. This unacceptable situation calls for immediate action to protect innocent lives. We urgently demand an immediate ceasefire from Israel to halt their military offensive and allow unfettered humanitarian access to Gaza. The suffering of civilians must be the top priority. Aid organizations must be granted safe passage to deliver critical food, water, medical supplies and other essentials to the people of Gaza. Failing to address this humanitarian catastrophe will only compound the tragedy. Continued military action threatens to displace even more Palestinian civilians and worsen an already dire situation in Gaza. A ceasefire and influx of aid is desperately needed to prevent further loss of life and alleviate the immense hardship facing the Palestinian people. Swift action must be taken to stop this escalating crisis and uphold the fundamental human rights of those trapped in this conflict zone.
