The State of Georgia really needs to step up and pass a Universal Constitutional Remedies Act. Right now, the federal government is claiming that ICE agents can’t be held accountable for their actions, and that’s just not right. No one should get a free pass when they violate people’s rights. ICE has a history of using excessive force and ignoring the constitutional protections that are supposed to apply to all of us. That kind of behavior doesn’t make communities safer — it makes them fearful.
Here in Georgia, families like mine want to feel safe and supported. We want to know that if ICE agents cross the line, we have a way to hold them responsible. Accountability isn’t about revenge; it’s about fairness and making sure the law applies equally to everyone. Without it, people are left vulnerable to abuse, and that’s not the kind of state we want to live in.
We deserve better than what we’re getting from the federal government. That’s why we’re looking to our state representatives to take action. Passing this Act would send a clear message: Georgia stands up for its people and won’t let anyone trample on their rights. It’s about protecting families, building trust, and making sure our communities feel safe.
This isn’t something that can wait. History shows that ignoring injustice only makes things worse. America is paying attention, and people will remember which leaders stood up for their communities and which ones stayed silent. Taking action now means being on the right side of history and showing that Georgia values justice and accountability.
So I’m asking our representatives to act quickly. Pass the Universal Constitutional Remedies Act, protect our rights, and make sure Georgia is a place where families can feel safe and respected. Thank you for listening and for standing with the people you serve.
